Classic Beef Burger

Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 4 brioche buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • Lettuce, tomato, onion
  • Your favorite condiments

Instructions

  1. Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and form into patties slightly larger than your buns.
  2. Make a small indent in the center of each patty to prevent puffing.
  3. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  4. Heat grill or cast iron to high heat.
  5. Cook patties 4-5 minutes per side for medium.
  6. Add cheese in the last minute of cooking.
  7. Toast buns lightly on the grill.
  8. Assemble with your favorite toppings.

Don't overwork the meat when forming patties - this keeps them tender. Let patties rest 2 minutes after cooking.
